I had a Catalina 22 for years. The keel is lifted by a 1/8 wire (the kind
they used to make halyards out of. It has a swedge fitting with a clevis
pin where it connects to the keel. This wire attaches to a winch - like a
boat trailer winch. Simple to change and I replaced mine once. As I recall
the problem is that you can not reach the keel attachment point while the
boat is on the trailer, it is recessed into the trunk. You may have to have
a travel lift pick it up.
