I don't think you should discount Hunters for coastal cruising, at least not
for fear of it falling apart. They are lightly constructed compared to
others, but so are Beneteau, Jenneau, Catalina, et al. Some folks, like me,
prefer a boat that is more "in the water" than "on the water" but that is
more for comfort and sea-keeping abilities than anything else. You will be
"tossed around" more in a modern fin-keel boat in a sea than in a heavy,
full-keel boat like mine.
