[worldcruising] Fresh Water Tank Paint

Subject: [worldcruising] Fresh Water Tank Paint
From: Evert Volkersz (evolkersz@XXX.XXX)

The water tanks in my 1970 Ohlson 38 are part of the fiberglass hull, with
an aluminum separator/baffle in the larger tank. The original paint seems
to have been a heavy white coating. On top of that is some kind of black
paint, which has been flaking. The white and black both are peeling off.
The tanks are open and reasonably accessible, although some corners and
ledges will be difficult to reach.

Question 1: What is the best way to prepare the surface for new paint? I
won't be able to scrape all surfaces, especially far corners.

Question 2: What paint should be used to paint the tanks?

Many thanks in advance for your help and suggestions.

Evert
