Take the time to get your doctor some info written by other doctors who
specialize in offshore medicine.

Of course he isn't going to prescribe morphine, but the other pain-killers
and antibiotics shouldn't be too much of a stretch.
If that fails, ask him fo refer you to another doctor, preferably a sailor,
preferably an offshore sailor.
