I know of a Valiant 40 that has done 1 1/2 circumnavigations with a
Hydrovane. The elimination of lines to the wheel is a big advantage.
However, I've heard some users complain that the inability to lift
the rudder clear of the water when it's not needed is a PITA - making
powering under engine more difficult, and particularly making it
difficult to back up.

Otherwise, it's a great vane, and probably ideal for center cockpit
models and boats with hydraulic steering systems.
