Hi!
I own a Downeaster 38. She is exceptionally roomy with almost 7 ft. of
headroom in the main cabin. Very easy for a couple to handle. Traditional
looking with a full keel, 5 ft. draft and 12 ft. beam . Very confortable
underway since she sails best at not more than 15 degrees of heel.
These boats have circumnavigated and I think they are a fairly well kept
secret. Price range is $45 to $64 (US) which makes them a real good value in
a proven offshore capable live aboard vessel.
The 32 foot version has also been cruised extensively and may be an even
better choice.
These are not performance cruisers!! If you are not a performance type
person, check them out. There are everal for sale at the Downeaster owners
