Larry: Nice to hear you're "voice". As you can well imagine, I second your
opinion about the Bristol 35; It also has a 10'9" beam a large comfortable
saloon and many like mine have a 4" draft with a centerboard allowing you to
get into some shallow places. We've done much to upgrade both inside and
outside. I've made teak hatches for the front "V" berth and the stern
lazerette. I"ve weldrd an aluminum collar with perforations around the base
with wooden blocks attached so that all the lines can be brought yo yjr back.
My wife had cabinets built above side benches (sp--senior moment!) and in the
storage areas above each "V" berth so that there is much storage room. We put
on a small hatch in the saloon over head for more ventilation Last summer we
lived for 3 1/3 months on the boat in Sag Harbor and will be doing it again
this summer.
Last summer was the first year of living on the boat and we just made day
trips and a trip to Block Island. This summer we'll go for a month or 2 to the
Chesapeake, or up to Maine. I have no intention of getting any other boat.
In Soundimgsthis last month there were 3 35's at 35k. These are Bristol 35'
less than '71 ( not the 35.5's).
Larry, if your up this way. I'm on D7 in Sag Harbor. You can't miss us
because my wife had it painted a nice shadw of yellow. We're the only yellow
boat in the harbor.
