In my experience with racing in performance handicap classes I have sailed
against Roberts boats
And they are always slow compared to others such as Adam's and S&S boats of
similar size.
Being a Ketch will make it even worse compared to an S&S39. Finding a
compromise between cruising and performance is difficult.
There are several good 50' boats in the USA that are advertised on
www.yachtworld.com etc.

Seeing though there appears to be a bit of a lull at the moment, maybe this
question will provoke some rustlings.
I may have an opportunity to purchase a Roberts 49 Ketch at the right price.
However I am concerned about the performance of these vessels. As I
currently own an S&S 39 I do not want to sacrifice all performance. Does
anyone out there have any first hand experience or know any details as to
their performance. At first glance and checking various specs of the design
I am concerned that it may be a "bit of a tub" and hard to push to windward,
however I hope I am wrong.
