The laptop is used for Pactor Email (sailmail), real landline email (Outlook Express), Chartplotting (Chartview Pro), Reduction tables and Starmaps (Skyglobe), Weather Fax (JVcomm) and of course a life support system for any adventure style game :-)

I originally had Win2000 and found that chartivew would drop out of plotting mode bitching about the loss of GSP signal. The GPS is connected to a repeater that sends all data to the Radar, the Yeoman plotter and the computer. I upgraded the laptop to Win98 and most of my weirdo problems went away. I do agree with the comments about Win95. Get rid of it soon. The Chartview program eats a lot of CPU so using it in tandem with something like DOOM would not be a good idea. On the otherhand the Weatherfax is running all the time with the chart program.

Thanks from your input. As a matter of interest how many other programs you
used in your laptop and which OS?
Win 95 & 98 are not multitasking systems and crush when too many tasks are
asked to the system to do.I wonder if the navegation software available is
working with MS Work Station or Win 2000 that are multitasking systems?
