How close to shore would you sail as apposed to direct Port Lincoln to
Albany

Arriving in March is good Gives some time to sail West coast a bit before
heading West into Indian Ocean (avoids cyclone season). I don't like
Melbourne to Port Lincoln in January.
Best time for that I think is March / April.

From November to end of January it's a pretty good bet. Plenty of
easterlies, some strong northerlies and not a lot of the westerlies or
sou-westerlies. If I couldn't get there by, say, some time in March I'd
forget it and head east and north.

The worst leg is from Ceduna to Albany. However, if I went that way I'd
definitely be talking to the fishermen. They can tell you of all sorts of
gunk-holes such as Eucla. On the map it looks like a fully exposed
lee-shore - but there's a reef about 1/2 mile off which makes for
reasonable shelter.

Reaction?

Regards

Lex
