Subject: [worldcruising] Teak Decks

Greetings:
I'm seriously considering making an offer on a 1978 - 37' Tayana Cutter with
teak decks. I have not seen the boat yet, but I'm informed it is in good
shape. My concern is with the teak decks. What is involved with keeping a
teak deck in good shape? How long do teak decks typically last? I understand
that in the tropics teak decks are great for keeping the cabin cool, by
simply wetting the deck with water, but on the other hand I don't want to
spend all my time maintaining the boat.
There must be some knowledge on this subject in the group. I'd like to hear
about the pro's and con's before I make an offer.
Cheers!
Rik
