Yep. Very familiar with the MD3B - had one in Gioconda for about 8 years.
Great engine but too much boat for the engine. Replaced it with a 80HP
Perkins (jokers at the yacht club said my wife wanted to go water skiing).

Anyway, we had a hot water service using engine hot water. It came from a
special fitting mounted at the forehead end of the exhaust manifold. (We
had raw water cooling - no heat exchanger). It did not look like a Volvo
arrangement - but it worked very well.

I can possibly get you more details but we may run out of time - we're
going off in 3 weeks.
