Yep, it's a tragedy. There are lots of them in the world. But this is a
world cruising net, not Civil War & Famine Relief International. I cannot
recall anyone I've ever heard of cruising Somalia. In fact, for decades the
traditional wisdom for those cruisers Red Sea bound is to stand well off (as
in over the horizon) from Somalia, so as to avoid coastal fishing vessels,
government patrol vessels, combatants and refugees afloat. Even at that, I
cannot recall any incidents of piracy directed at cruising vessels in those
waters.

I'm afraid your tragic personal history has colored your view of the rest of
the world.
