Hi
While not a scientific study for sure I have used Marelon for a long time. The
first ones in a boat that doe not belong to me any more. I am friends with the
current owner and know the valves are in good shape after about 18 years.
One note here. I heard a story about "plastic valves that broke and caused a
sinking. When I questioned the owner he said the valves had stainless bolts
holding them together. These valves were produced a while back and I think
were not glass reinforced nylon. They were not the Marelon brand. I wonder
how much of the bad rap plastic valves get is due to these and other cheep
plastic valves used on boats. I have seen the PVC ball valves sold at Home
Depot used on one boat in our marina mounted on a plastic through hull.
