Hello,

The simplest sollution I know is by way of a digitiser based on a 741 amp.
The only thing it does is take the signal from the audio outlet of the
radio, and send a 1 signal if freq is above middle-freq, otherwise send a 0
to the rs-232.

The decoder is commonly named the hamcomm decoder, ass you'll find the
diagram in the help function of the programm "Hamcomm". This programm can
only receive (and send, if you build the extended interface and have a
licence ...) digital modes as navtex, tor, amtor, rtty, baudot, ship, synop
(both last ones are for ships weather info) and I may have forgotten some.

You can use this decoder for weather charts, but you'll need another
programm. I've used Jvfax, but there are others.

This system (these programs) work under dos, NOT under win95 or win98 as
their dos-windows are not single-tasking and do not get possesion over the
complete rs232 interface as the programms expect it.

This is a simple and usable system, but don't expect too much from it. I
used it for experimenting only. In my opinion, stick with your old computer
and dos for radio-applications. It does only one application at a time but
then, your radio only receives one signal at a time ! I also still use a
486-66 mhz :-) on board.
