You might check into a Montague www.montagueco.com which makes a full
sized hybred or mountain bike with 26" wheels and an aluminum frame
with ss spokes and alum rims so it doesn't rust as quickly. It is
very comfortable to ride long distances with a strong & rigid frame.
You can order them for a 30 day trial. The problem is that they take
up more room than the toy bikes, though the pedals fold which
helps. They cost about $400 and the optional case is worth while as
it really makes storage easier.
