I did a similar trip from Bridgeport in CT To Ecuador via Panama
in 1997. Then on to Australia. I used the Intracostal waterway from Norfolk
Virginia to Ft. Lauderdale then via the Bahamas. I had planned to stop in
Cuba, Jamaica and Colombia but ran out of time. I left CT in April with ice
on the sea and just got to Panama when hurricanes were in the gulf of
Mexico. I wish I had taken longer. Next time I shell stay out the hurricane
season in Guatemala.
