[worldcruising] Windmill

Hi,

I was thinking about something like a weathercock, connected by an axle to a mechanical counter (or maybe a magnetic one). With a reset key attached it is possible, with a chronometer help, make an own graduate table. If some simple empirical relations could be done, I think that the first list should be translated to a nautical measure.
Many problems could appear, like axle's lubrification and abrupts changes in wind direction.
Over there, the results will be founded in medial numbers, compliant with a time interval. Therefore, gusts will not be registred.
    Just an idea...

Best regards
