We used reinforced rectangles as well. I am going to build new cloths for
our next passage that will include the following:
-Nylon mesh fabric, in the tropics canvas is to hot, you need a material that
allows some air to circulate around you. Good fans help as well.
-Build a couple of small pockets that can be filled with water bottles or
other personal items you want near you but don't want flying around. When
sailing in equatorial areas we found that a small spray bottle (filled with
water) was great to have near us when it was hot, just reach up and shoot
yourself down and you are cool for awhile.
-I have used line in the past but will switch to 1-1.5" webbing and plastic
adjustments as described in an earlier post.
-Make sure all the seems and connection points have the fabric edge out, keep
edges and seems that are next to your body as smooth as possible.

Good luck,
