Andrew:
We use rectangular piece of canvas (reinforced) that attaches to the
mid-section of the open side of the bunk at the bottom and is attached to
high strong points by a series of light lines. We like the lines better
than a rod as it permits quick exit if necessary. When not in use the
canvas and lines are folded under the berth. Has worked for years.
