HELP!!!
We are heading to Cuba and unlike previous years in the Bahamas can't
rely on VHF for weather information. The budget doesn't allow us to
get a full SSB so we're looking at just the receivers. As I know very
little about this stuff, I need advice. I want a receiver that will
plug in using a 12v adaptor, pick up weather information, and with a
demodulator plug into my laptop to download weatherfax with
weatherfax software. I've read postings concerning the Grundig
Yachtboy 400, but a second posting said it doesn't receive upper or
lower sideband selection. Is this important? What weatherfax software
should I use in conjunction with one of these radios? What about the
Sony model? What kind of antennae do I need? What is Si-Tex and is it
a better radio??? ARGH!
Thanks in advance....Sailorgirl
