Hello there
My name is Bob Green. I'm a New Zealander, working for a shipping company
in Kuala Belait, Brunei, South East Asia. My usual job is captain aboard
one of our ships, but for the next few years, it looks like my family and I
will be shore based.
I intend buying a liveaboard yacht early next year and are presently
checking out the Asian Market. Many years back I lived aboard a Trapper 500
(C&C 27) in the Channel Islands. It cost me my first marriage so I'm after
something bigger this time.
My most favoured yacht at present is a Jouet 1280. A French 42ft centre
cockpit with deck saloon and 2nd aft cockpit. GRP, fin & skeg, built 1987.
It has an added bonus of air conditioning which after a day in the office, I
think is a must.
Ideally I would like a lifting keel but that makes choice limited,
especially in Asia, though I would consider shipping a yacht over. (Too
much work to sail it)
I would like to hear from anyone with ideas on the right liveaboard yacht.
For the first 3 years, there won't be much sailing, but I would consider
sailing it back to New Zealand after my stint here.
I would be interested in hearing from anyone who may be sailing around
Brunei. We de see the odd yacht.
Some members may know me from the Marine Training Centre on Tarawa,
Kiribati. I worked there and met many yachtsmen passing through.
