Subject: RE: Check stays

Could you describe the check stays a bit more? Where are your attachment
points? Am I correct in thinking these are essentially running backstays?
If so, would they do the trick if a stormjib were flown off the inner
forestay?

Jack Harkins

Everything is connected to the mast at the point where the lowers are
connected. A bridle made of heavy stainless strapping is for the forestay.
The checkstays/running backstays are tied off a shackle also at this point.
This setup is used mainly to run a storm jib on the rare occasion. Most of
the time, everything is kept strapped to the lowers.
