Hi Andrew,

Yeah, I guess this is one of those questions that spawns tons of threads. I
hope noone minds too much that I brought it up.

A solution similiar to yours is one of the ones that I am also considering,
however the space on my foredeck, at the bow is compromised by an anchor
locker which comes to within a few inches of the rather small bow fitting.
Thus I have the option of somehow attaching a 2nd forestay (without a
furler) beside the existing forestay (with the furler) or else making a
pseudo-cutter rig with a removeable forestay about 3 feet from the bow. I
was hoping to be able to make do without a forestay wire but am coming to
the conclusion that I may have to bite the bullet and do it that way after
all.

If I could extend the bow stem plate back a few inches, then I might be able
to fit a 2nd forestay behind the furler drum, hhhhmmmmmm, I'll have to look
at it again.

Thanks for all advice.
Frank
