Subject: [worldcruising] Melbourne to New Zealand

Early next year, my wife and I intend crossing the Tasman to New Zealand. We
would like feedback from anyone who could give advise on our trip. I have
heard that some boats cross from Hobart to the bottom of the South Island.
Others would follow the Aust. coast to Port Macquarie. From there, across to
Lord Howe Island,up to Norfolk Island, then down to Three Kings Island and
then down the east coast of the North Island.
I wonder if a straight line from Wilson's Promontory to Auckland would be
too much of an ask.
I have noticed that the prevailing winds in the Tasman for this trip are
favourable for the trip across. I wonder what the tactics would be in
getting back.
Perhaps someone may know of the log of such a trip that is on the net.
