[worldcruising] Outhaul Sheave Update

Subject: [worldcruising] Outhaul Sheave Update
From: Evert Volkersz (evolkersz@XXX.XXX)

Many thanks to Jack, Denece, and James for responding to my inquiry.

I had already been in contact with Rigging Only (www.riggingonly.com), from
whom I just this morning bought a main sheet and blocks, and block & tackle
to go up the mast.

I contacted Chesapeake Rigging (www.chesapeakerigging.com) and SailNet
(JSI). Both responded that they don't have my size sheave. To machine one
for me would be much more expensive than the tentative quote from the shop
mentioned below.

I called a local sailmaker, with whom I have not done any business yet, who
recommended Bellpat Marine, Ed Laviano, 1260 Montauk Highway, East
Patchogue, NY (This is on the South shore of Long Island), 631-286-8368.
Fax: 631-286-8378. I visited yesterday and discussed several projects with
him. He suggested I get a digital read-out Verniers Calipers to make more
precise measurements for the outhaul sheave and for genoa lead blocks. And
there will be more projects.

As James suggested, it looks like the beginning of a life-long friendship.

Thanks, Evert
