What area of the world are you in?
Keep in mind the bareboat charter trade is a lot rougher on boats
than a captain who takes people out on his own boat, or a consortium
of owners who own a boat as a group.
We have a boat that was built for charter in the Caribbean. It was
built to be as bullet-proof as possible for the charter trade, and is
one of the few boats which does not have a cored deck. As she was
built, she can easily sleep 8 and there is a lot of storage space.
Not all of them were actually IN charter though, and ours was not.
It IS however 20 years old. IMO, this is a good thing.
There are specific things that I would look at on our type of boat,
but that is not because of having been in charter - just things that
sometimes do go wrong (such as leaks under the lifelines/toe rail,
rudder damage, chainplates etc.) Other types of boats would have
other problems.
