The problem with rope, and the reason that the ORC dosen't allow it for
standing rigging, is because of the problem of chafe, and that it can be cut
easily, especially under load. Take wire and a swedging kit. The type that
uses a screw to clamp the fitting should work fine, and be small and easy to
stow. that and a BIG pair of wire cutters, turnbuckles, shackles. etc. , and
you should be able to re-rig the mast any time.
