John,

I had the rig inspected by a a good rigger in the Spring. He did find a
"nose piece" that was cracked at the top of the forestay which was
replaced. The rest of the rigging was pronounced "good".

I intend to go up and do a final check before we leave. If the backstay
were to part, hopefully I'll get the runnning backstays on before the mast
comes down, and then pray that I can get some temporary jury rig installed.
Its the jury rig I'm thinking about. Of course, anything will do, spare
halyards, sheets, etc. I'm just trying to be "as prepared" as logically
possible, without the expense (and space) of carrying spare, premade,
standing rigging.

Question: why galvanized wire? Also, I'm not familiar with the term Crosby
Clip. Are these the "bulldog clamps" or "wire clamps" you see used to keep
the steering cables on the quadrant?

Thanks for the suggestions.
