Whoops! I can't believe I didn't say how!! Sorry. You get the free web site this way:
1. go to www.msn.com (home page)
2. Click on HOTMAIL in toolbar
3. Sign up for HOTMAIL
4. They confirm it very quickly
5. Then, go to www.communities.msn.com and create your web site
6. It comes free w/the Hotmail account
7. You can check out other sites there to see how you like them (the vanilla and the ones with mardi gras designs)
8. Then, just follow their instructions--pick a category and start creating. It's a no-brainer.
9. If anyone gets stuck, email me. I just finished doing it this week and my cerebellum is still working.

Since everyone in this egroup is talking about their boats and engines, you all might not know you can now get free home page with 30 MEGS (that's humongous) to add your boat pictures and then just publish your link to this egroup so folks can see the boat/engine/water pump you're talking about. Or, share photos of your exotic anchorages. Anyway, ours is primitive by Web standards, but only took about an hour to get it up; then added digital photos over time (they load instantly). Even got a free counter at bCentral.com (you can too just by registering and copying the HTML there). Also, help is extensive and you can customize your page later and even do it in HTML. Hope all you captains and co-captains consider this communication opportunity--free means alot when your engine's in the mechanic's nest and your hull just cracked and your Irish Setter just scratched the paint job...
Other home page freebies I've looked at usually limit you to 5 or 6 megs so thot you all can now put ALL your big boat photos somewhere big & add your favorite links. Would love to see your site if you anchor into one. (You can always add on later and just say-- "Moor to come.") Also, you can create a Community there, say for world cruisers, and swap photos, recipes, etc. (Since this egroup doesn't take attachments.)
Our basic 1 hour site plus a few hours later to add photos is: www.communities.msn.com/WoodwardsSugarlandScrapbook
Apology for opening page funky photo but it was late at night...
