While we are on the subject of seaworthy boats, does anybody have an opinion
about the CT Mermaid for long-term cruising/liveaboard? I am looking at a
41ft.

thanks,
Tammy

Subject: Jeanneau Yachts

Hi everyone,

I am seeking opinions on Jeanneau yachts and their seaworthiness etc. They
look nice and according to the numbers they should perform well too. But I
am concerned about the strength of construction and how they perform in
adverse conditions. Like a lot of production boats they appear to be
orientated to the charter market which don't usually get punished in big
seas. I am looking at some of the larger models 45 foot plus.

Any info greatly appreciated. Thanks in anticipation.

Andrew

The principal market of Jeanneau Yachts is Mediterranean Charters. They
are
not really one owner boats. They are a lightweight construction and not
designed for hard drives to windward or for cold waters.

Having said that, there is no reason why you should not be pleased and
satisfied
with one; but I should not enter for the Sydney-Hobart Race!

I have a chance to do some serious blue water cruising on a
well-maintained 1975 Dufour 31. Does anybody have any knowledge of this
boats seaworthness on a long haul? Or, do you know where I might find a
source for such information?

Any leads would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

George Carpenter
