You do need the clearance that Martec Engineering told you about for correct operation of their
"AutoStream" 3-blade folding prop. That is just how it's made.

For the money, the AutoStream is the way to go. It has all the options that the others charge
up to twice the money for. I installed an 18" 3-blade on my last haul out. I like it a lot.

I would suggest installing some type of crab pot protection at the same time. Very cheap
insurance. I installed a "Spur". It's well made and works as advertised. There are cheaper ways
to go and perhaps achieve the same effectiveness of cutting unwanted debris from your aft
underwater end. There's a round blade system from Canada and an other similar type from
England.
