Hello there,
My name is Luis and I am from Lisbon.
I began sailing with my father in 1976 in his old aquacat catamaran and a
40ft wooden Ketch (which he had bought in 1974 and sold in 1981). About 2
years later he bought me an optimist, and in 1981 I joined a local Sailing
Club (S.A.D.) in the optimist class. In 1986 I began racing in 420 and a
couple of years after moved to the Laser. I also made a few races in Snipes,
but became a little bit bored with the racing life and abandoned it around
1991.
Since then I've been sailing mostly on my Laser, and sometimes on a Hobbie
cat 16 or on Vaurien in the Azores, where I lived for 6 lovely years.
I moved back to Lisbon in January 1999, and I have been sailing on my
father's Raquero and on my Laser.
I am now seeking for cruising experience in the few sailing clubs that teach
"cruise sailing" in Lisbon and, from this list I expect to learn a lot more
on a theoric level, as much as meeting a lot of different people.
My medium/short time goal is to move back to the Azores and live there with
my future sailing boat!
I also have interests on spearfishing, Scuba Diving, music, airplanes (I am
a pilot) and nice times!!!
