Subject: [worldcruising] Howdy from Texas Y'All! Newcomer Questions

My husband, Richard, and I have a Catalina 22 which we sail in Galveston Bay near Houston, TX. I am an environmental editor for an engineering company and he has his own firm, Sierra Environmental. He is an excellent sailor as well as an Instructor in the US Sailing program; I am still learning to improve trim and plot courses and tie more knots. When I saw this global list of people from so many countries, I wondered how people in this list started "world sailing." Does anyone have stories to share? Did you start by crewing on a boat in blue water? Did you just buy a boat and shove off around the world? Did you charter? Does anyone need a crew of two hard workers? I would love to hear tips on moving up from coastal cruising to blue water sailing from any of y'all around the world!
