I have had my 8D batteries for 8 years (2 8Ds on the inverter and 2 8Ds
on the house/engine start. They are still in good shape as far as I can
determine but I will replace them in about 1 year just before heading
out on several years of cruising. They have been used mainly for summer
cruising, sitting the winters in the boat while in storage here in
Ontario. The only long period of use was one 14 month trip during the
95-96 season. They are Exide 8Ds rated at 200 amp hrs. I figure I have
got my moneys worth out of them.
