    the list since it may be of general interest to the group:

    To my knowledge all of the major companies rate metal and fiberglass boat=
    s
    equally. There are, however, differences in the way they handle surveys.

    Most US carriers will accept in water surveys for fiberglass boats, but
    require sonic gauging on metal hulls. While you may be concerned with
    osmosis, the companies are generally not, since they exclude gradual
    deterioration as a cause of loss, and the sinking of a plastic boat in
    coastal waters due to delamination is not very likely.
