We have a 15HD SuperMax on Small Wonder. The anchor rode is 1/2 in twisted
nylon (with a 1/4 in trip line) per manufacturer recommendation. There is no
chain on the rode (also per manufacturer recommendation), which is probably
    specific to the Ches Bay.
We have used it six or seven times. The bucket is in the middle position
(we've never had to change it). It has always set the first time. We have
used it in bottoms ranging from alluvial mud (Rhode River, MD) where it went
about six feet deep to gloppy sand (Cornfield Creek off the Magothy River,
MD) where it went about three feet deep. For overnight, we back down at
1,500 RPM. Scope has ranged from 3:1 to 5:1. We have never had to use the
trip line (yet). The bucket does bring up a LOT of the bottom. Oh yes, HNick
is the manual windlass (or perhaps windlad - nyah, nyah, nyah).
