    Capt Wil,

In your e mail today you write:

"My block allows the oil dipstick to be located on either side of the
engine. The unused side has a plug screwed into the opening."

I realize that there is some risk of starting an interminable trawlerworld
list discussion on the relative advantages of single versus dual dipsticks.
Nevertheless, I feel it is my duty to set the record straight.

There can be no valid reason for having dual dipsticks on a trawler motor.
Those who feel that two are necessary are falling victim to the dreaded
    excesses of slick advertising.
