Disposing of old gas is seriously hard to do in some instances, especially if
it is mixed with 2-stroke oil. I once spent an entire day trying to do so
properly to see if it could be done. To see who would accept 10 gallons, I
began with calling oil reclaimers (no), oil distributors (no), the dump (no,
only motor oil), tried the fire station (no advice beyond what I had tried),
finally I found that a hazmat company would charge me $300 to take it to add
to a mixed barrel. Finally a gas station attendant let me pour it down their
oil sump, but the next time I asked to get rid of about a gallon, they said it
never happened and it was impossible. I used to be able to pour some out into
the oil sump at a boondocks dump, but they have recently put up a sign NO GAS.
Since all gas stations leak, and the millions of gallons of oil that leak from
cars (that black stripe down the center of the road) contains dissolved gas
and washes into the shoulders of the roads everywhere, and since our systems
neither allow nor permit disposal, I can't tell you what I do with it....Next
time, I think I will ask a local landscaper if he wants it before the
unmentionable happens. I do have a small nice weed-free area.

Straight old gas- I have a container each of octane booster and gas treatment,
throw some in and run it through my lawnmower.

We dump it where we park our trailer boat as a weed killer.<

Whoa- seriously bad idea. It will ultimately get into the groundwater and
contaminate the aquifer. Gasoline contains benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and
xylene as well as other bad stuff (e.g.
    methyl-tert-butyl-ether or MTBE).
I for one don't like the idea of drinking this stuff as the aquifer may be
your (or someone else's) water supply.
The approach of dumping unwanted material "outback" is what ultimately
resulted in companies and taxpayers paying billions for under Superfund.
In this day and age we know better. Please think hard before doing this.
Luckily I live in NJ where we don't have these kind of concerns :-) Kevin
