    Devils Claw gets my vote. Washington Chain sells them. I've seen those flat plates bent. As for the 1/2" rope for a bridle, not on my boat. Yes 1/2" line will stretch. What scares the hell out of me is when the wind is honkin and the 1/2" bridle is stretched to it's limit and your on the bow when the line snaps. Then when the slack in the chain tightens up and jerks the windlass from it's mounting while you stand there ( if the 1/2" whip didn't take your legs out from under) and watch helplessly. SCARY!!!!? We have 3/8" chain with a V shaped bridle made from 7/8" line and let the cantinary weight of the chain absorb the load changes.
