T&T: Diesel additives

I have just added some fuel (260 gals) as a hedge against rising prices and
want to treat it for cooties and emotional gratification. I used Valve Tect
in the last batch (already had it - PO left it for me) and it seems to work
okay. There are three popular brands readily available to me - ValveTec,
PRI-D (local guy swears by this stuff in his 1400! gallon Hat LRC) , and
Startron (cheapest). Anybody feel strongly about them? Got a cheap source (it
ain't West Marine!)? I bet this has been discussed before, but I don't know how
    to see archives.

Also, I have been told that adding ATF to the fuel filter when I change it
is a great way to clean the injectors. It burns hot and cleans really well
(run at idle or so) and then the regular fuel purges it and you're good to go.
Is this dangerous? Does it work? Seems risky, but he swears by it (4-53
Detroit NAs). I have 160HP Turbo Lehmans. Thanks. JeemboNC
