There is nothing in your registration as being Michigan. Your home port
and address are listed as Indiana.

There is a fine for not having proper markings. Whether anyone will
enforce the requirements is another matter.

Subpart I_Marking Requirements for Vessel Documentation
Title 46, Sec. 67.123 Name and hailing port marking requirements.

         (c) Recreational vessels. For vessels documented exclusively for
recreation, the name and hailing port must be marked together on some
clearly visible exterior part of the hull.
         (d) The markings required by paragraphs (a), (b), and (c) of this
section, which may be made by the use of any means and materials which
result in durable markings, must be made in clearly legible letters of
the Latin alphabet or Arabic or Roman numerals not less than four inches
    in height.

    Sec. 67.331 Improper markings.

The owner of a documented vessel shall not permit the operation of
that vessel unless it is marked in accordance with subpart I of this
part. (subpart I is just above).

Subpart H_Assignments and Designations Required for Vessel Documentation

    Sec. 67.119 Hailing port designation.
<<< there are a bunch of details as to what is a proper hailing port >>>

As for the penalties. The only reference I can find that APPEARS to
address the possible fines is in the US Code (USC). 46USC121122. There
is nothing in the CFR's regarding the penalties for improper markings.

                         Part H--Identification of Vessels

                       CHAPTER 121--DOCUMENTATION OF VESSELS

    Sec. 12122. Penalties

         (a) A person that violates this chapter or a regulation prescribed
under this chapter is liable to the United States Government for a civil
penalty of not more than $10,000. Each day of continuing violation is a
    separate violation.

    So much for improper markings...

    Regards,
    Mike
