T&T: Subject: Re: boat lettering

    This might be some fodder for discussion.
     
    Ten years ago when the Admiral and I acquired Heart of Gold, we were
    thinking that when we retired we would not have a 'home port', at least for
    a while. For hailing port under the name on the transom we put "@ Planet
    Earth". That's all is says. No city and state. Just "Heart of Gold! @
    Planet Earth".
     
    We have been boarded twice by the Coast Guard. Both times on Lake Michigan
    for routine inspections. and have been given the gold (passing) sheet each
    time. We also routinely have the CG Aux inspection. We were also docked
    adjacent to a DKNY boat for an entire winter in Florence AL. The issue of
    hailing port has never come up. The documentation papers list state of
    registration as MI and our home address in IN.
