Hi John: Lehmans do NOT require real maintenance every 6 hours. During our 6
hours off we planned for an engine room check of about 15 minutes. This
included visual, oil and fluid levels, belts, batteries, etc. When it came time
to do real oil changes this took 1 hour.
Remember back in 1984 there were few small power boats that attempted to
cross the Atlantic and beyond. We were especially attuned to our plan that we
worked out in the training period ( 5 years) on Long Island Sound before we
took on the open seas. The fact that we did not adhere to a schedule allowed us
to wait out the correct weather windows at Bermuda, Azores and Madieras before
entering Gibraltar to the Med. The return trip back to our home base of
Montreal, Quebec was planned the same way. If you wish you can read all about
this on the sister web page of the PUP. Regards. Leonard Stern, INDIFFERENCE.
