At the recommendation of the surveyor when I bought the boat, I put in
polycarbonate tubing with compression fittings. You can find this on the
Internet, or at gas station suppliers locally. It's very clear and fuel
resistant. Flexible PVC tubing is also OK, but does get dirty over time.
There is a fuel resistant PVC as well, that has a yellowish tint to it.
Last survey the guy recommended that I put signs by each sight tube that
said to keep the valves closed unless I was actually measuring fuel level,
per an ABYC recommendation.. geez! I put them there, but I think it's a bit
overkill.
