John, why do you say the RCI's are not designed to be a fuel polishing device?
That is what I am planning to use one for.

Subject: Re: T&T: RCI Purifiers
I have recently researched this product and with my limited knowledge, it
seems to be a good "pre-filter" for the Racors. The Purifier when installed
between the tank and the Racors is designed to filter 98% of the water and
particulate matter out of the fuel down to 10 microns. Not to bring up an old
tired thread, but wouldn't that be a good excuse to use 2 micron filters in
your Racors?
The Purifier is not designed to be a fuel polishing device or replace the
Racors, merely another way of preventing that sickening feeling of your engine
quitting when your Racor plugs up. The demonstrations look impressive (dumping
dirt and water in the line before the Purifier and watching the fuel come out
clean at the other end) and the ease of purging the gunk is also impressive.
Anyway, when I have my tanks cleaned in a couple weeks, I'm going to install
one of the RCI 50's. At $340.00, it seems to be relatively inexpensive
insurance.
