Ted, in my galley down the fridge is mounted athwartships with its back facing
forward to the forward cabin. We mounted the fan at the back of the fridge
under the port V-berth as high as possible (maybe two feet above the deck) and
set it to blow in bringing the cool air from under the bunks but I think
either direction would work well. Due to poor installation the only air
circulation previously was the little grill under the front of the fridge and
the plywood wall behind the fridge in the forward cabin would actually get
very warm. Now it doesn't.
