Check your transmission manual for freewheeling details. My Lehmans have
PRM/Newage transmissions that, accordingly to the manual, are designed for
extended freewheeling.

Subject: T&T: prop shaft lock
what is the best prop shaft lock?
two monkey wrenches?
yesterday while being towed across the bay by vessel assist with my dead
single lehman, i was getting nervous about spinning the transmission with
the engine down.
on sailboats we always put the trans in reverse to stop spin while sailing
with no apparent ill effect over years of sailing
what do twin engine boats do when running on one engine to stop prop shaft
spin on the down engine?
