Larry Z - excellent response. I will add, however, that a dirty hull
(barnacles, even slime) can really hurt your speed, as well as wind and waves.
Further, boats seem to always be heavier than we think - amazing how all the
junk we carry adds up. Lastly, the inefficiency of twin engines adds ~10-20% to
the total fuel burn (and doubles maintenance and engine life overhaul cost
setaside). So - I suggest the predictions be a little more conservative. FYI
    - my 42' trawler weighing ~32,000# all up with twin 160s burns ~4gph at 8
kts with no wind. My $.02. JeemboNC
