One time I drained the water and let some Lime Away sit in the duck bills
for an hour and it dissolved the piece of scale that had broken loose and
caused the duckbills stay open.

on two head / one pump systems, there is an inline duckbill valve between
each tank and the Y before the pump... if someone flushes something they
shouldn't it usually gets caught there. If you have enough slack in the
line, shaking it will often loosen up the problem without even having to
open it up...
